The piles of garbage returned to the streets of Nabatieh and a number of villages within al-Shqeif municipalities union, after the waste sorting plant located in Wadi al-Kfour stopped operating two months after being inaugurated.
The union’s head Mohammad Jaber had declared in a press conference that a crisis has erupted after failing to find sanitary landfills for the residues of the treated waste, making the plant unable to absorb any more garbage. This has led to the accumulation of waste in the vicinity of the plant and across the region’s streets.
