Sharia Council denounces return of assassination phenomenon
The Higher Sharia Council voiced concerns on Saturday over the return of the phenomenon of political assassinations in Lebanon, urging the state to assume its responsibilities to protect political leaders and to consider all Lebanese cities free of arms.

The council also voiced support for the Arab initiative, calling on the international community to assume its “moral and humanitarian responsibility.”

The council voiced discontent over the feeble international stance vis-à-vis the “massacres carried out at everyone’s sights.”

The Sharia Council heady by Mufti of the Republic Mohammad Rashid Qabbani called on the Arab states to assume their historical responsibilities and rescue the Syrian people before it is too late, urging the Lebanese state to assume its responsibilities towards the Syrian refuges in Lebanon.

The council voiced surprise over the double standards adopted while dealing with Islamist detainees who have been detained for 4 years without prosecution while the one “accused of collaborating with Israel” was put on trial.
