Hezbollah calls for a modern electoral law – Qassem

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said Saturday that the issue with the ongoing presidential crisis is that the Future bloc “has not not taken any step towards direct negotiations with head of Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun," adding that when the movement previously negotiated with him, it managed to get its way out based on a Saudi order.

“Hezbollah supports the election of a new president as soon as possible”, he added.

On another note, Qassem stated that Hezbollah calls for a modern electoral law based on proportional representation.

“The 1960s electoral law will not change the results, but will maintain the current situation,” Qassem said.
