REPORT: These are the 3 electoral draft law proposals currently on the table

While the presidential vacuum lasts to an undetermined term, the same fate awaits the debate over the new electoral draft law.

Three proposals are currently on the table and are the most seriously handled by the concerned parties.

The Orthodox draft law, which stipulates that each sect elects its deputies, was approved by the joint parliamentary committees, but has not yet reached agreement by all parties.

Berri’s proposal, or the hybrid draft law, which stipulates that 64 deputies get elected according to the majoritarian system and 64 deputies according to the proportional basis.

March 14’s proposal, approved by the Future Movement, the Lebanese Forces, the Progressive Socialist Party and the independents, stipulates that 68 deputies get elected according to the majoritarian system and 60 deputies according to the proportional basis.
