REPORT: Closer look on child labor in agriculture

Child labor is defined as work that is unsuitable for a child’s age, affects children’s education, or is likely to harm their health, safety or morals.

However, much of the work children do in agriculture is not age-appropriate and is likely to be hazardous. For instance, a child who is hired to herd cattle, or applying pesticides, and a child who works all night and is too tired to go to school the next day would all be considered child labor.

This report will shed light on the child labor in the agriculture and the efforts deployed by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to address child labor in agriculture.
