Education Minister Elias Bou Saab announced Monday that several schools will be closed soon due to recent scandals that emerged in terms of the official exams.
Bou Saab’s remarks came during an inspection tour on schools hosting the official exam for secondary level.
The minister said on Friday that an exam cheating network was discovered through the plan that the ministry has set this year to curb the cheating.
Bou Saab’s comments were made during a press conference whereby he noted that the cheating network is formed of organizers, mediators, schools and university students who were paid to sit for official exams instead of other students.
He also noted that means of communications were confiscated, and other means of cheating were uncovered.
“We discovered that there were some teachers sending pictures of the exam papers to students via WhatsApp,” he concluded by saying.
