MP Hobeishe to LBCI: Partial solutions for presidential vacuum are unacceptable
Future bloc MP Hadi Hobeishe said on Wednesday that the ongoing presidential vacuum is “unacceptable,” stressing the importance of electing a new president as soon as possible.
Hobeishe’s comments were made during an interview with LBCI Nharkom Said TV show whereby he noted that the mandate of the next president should remain six years, rejecting the principle of rotation.
“Partial solutions in the presidential vacuum crisis are not acceptable,” he added.
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.

Deep disputes between rival politic parties have thwarted the election sessions.

On another note, Hobeishe said that the resignation of the Kataeb’s ministers from the government is “not a good sign,” voicing hopes that such a step would form a motivation to work on building the state.
Kataeb Party chief MP Sami Gemayel announced Tuesday the resignation of Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi and Economy Minister Alain Hakim from Cabinet.
