REPORT: Infant ends up with Cerebral palsy post tumor removal

Sofi Mashlab was born prematurely at 24 weeks of pregnancy and remained in an incubator for weeks.

Doctors said the girl needed to remove a nonmalignant tumor located in her lower body, and although her parents went through with the surgery, they later explained that it was not that important.

Following the surgery the girl suffered from a cerebral Palsy and kidney failure.

The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed the vast damage caused to the girl’s brain, this had her father request a copy of his daughter’s medical file from the directory of Saint George Hospital through his attorney, but they were struck with refusal.

Mashlab pressed charges, yet it’s still unclear if it was a medical error or post-surgery complications.
