Gemayel: We are not a party that uses force against Lebanese

A ceremony held by the Kataeb party is currently being held in Shiah to commemorate the anniversary of the Lebanese war.

During the ceremony, MP Sami Gemayel said that the Lebanese war began before April 13 1975 when the Lebanese Army was violated by Palestinian organizations, adding that this date marks the beginning of the Kataeb resistance due to the State’s inaction.

“When the state was unable to impose sovereignty and control over its territories, the Kataeb party was forced to fill the gap so that Lebanon does not become Greater Syria of Palestine”, Gemayel said.

Gemayel stressed that in 1975 there were armed groups on Lebanese soil and in 2012 we still have armed groups stronger and more influential. “The difference is that in 1975 these groups were Palestinian groups but today they are Lebanese”, Gemayel added.

The Kataeb MP said that the Lebanese do not trust each other and they are in continuous conflict, “one that will affect us negatively”. Gemayel stressed that it is time for us to learn that in this country no party can rule alone and no one can eliminate any other party.

Gemayel went on to say: “They did not resort to their weapons only but they carried out a systematic invasion to buy lands in Ain el Remeneh and Shiah areas. These actions are not innocent and these purchases are suspicious. They are trying to settle in new areas to impose their own ideas and policy”.

Gemayel added that the state is not concerned with people’s lives but it cares about international equations only to break local parties and political constituencies of the Lebanese society.

“We are not a party that uses international forces against the Lebanese”, Gemayel confirmed.

Gemayel stressed the need to work for a better state and a true social change, adding “we want a state that respects its dignity, sovereignty and borders”.
