REPORT: Sami Z.: Abducted man or fugitive?

Citizen Sami Z., who hails from Yahchouch, remains abducted by Dani al-Hajj Hussein in the region of Bekaa.

The kidnapper says that Sami Z. gave him checks without funds of an amount of USD 135 thousand, requesting a ransom of USD 98 thousand.

However, Sami’s family denies any checks without funds and any fraud operations.

As for the security sources, they say that this is not the first time news emerge that Sami Z. has been kidnapped, leading them to raise doubts concerning these abductions, suggesting that they might be staged for financial purposes.

The security sources add that Sami’s file contains two arrest warrants issued against him on charges using checks without funds, as well as financial complaints against him. He was also jailed several times on charges of forgery and fraud.

Sami Z. is also known among the security forces of being “the man who once tried to sell Byblos Castle to a Saudi national.”
