REPORT: Falluja's displaced struggle to celebrate Eid al-Fitr
Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid al-Fitr this week which marks the end of the month of Ramadan. People feast, visit relatives and neighbors, and go shopping in the days before the festival.
 
But for the internally displaced people of Falluja, this joyous picture is far from reality. They live in a makeshift camp in Ameriyat al-Falluja after being forced to flee their homes.
 
The civilians at government-run camps, who make up about a third of Falluja's total population before Islamic State took over 2-1/2 years ago, are currently relying on handouts from the United Nations and aid groups.
 
Living in tents in extreme weather conditions, the displaced Iraqis say everything is a struggle from food to water and electricity.
 
Many mourn loved ones who were killed in the battle between Islamic State militants and Iraqi armed forces. The wounds are fresh and their lives far from the ones they used to remember in their homes in Falluja.
 
One man living at the camp said Eid had no real special meaning for him and his family anymore.
 
"The Eid for us is no more than regular days that pass, because you know all of us are suffering. I'm suffering because of the leg I have lost, my brother is sad for his son, my other brother sad for his son-in-law that passed away, Eid has no taste anymore, it's now just like any other day," said Ahmed Omar, who has lost one leg.
 
More than 85,000 people fled their homes during a month-long campaign that ended last month when Iraqi authorities declared they had completely recaptured Falluja, an hour's drive west of Baghdad.
 
The United Nations said Iraqi authorities will allow civilians displaced by the assault on Islamic State-held Falluja to start returning home as early as August.
