Every time an attack targets any place in the world, the Islamophobia returns to the forefront.
Following the attack in Nice, south of France, a chain of anti-violence reactions was triggered.
"Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia they should be deported," Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich explicitly declared, commenting on the attack.
Mr Gingrich, who was in the frame as candidate Donald Trump's potential running mate before Indiana Governor Mike Pence was asked, also suggested monitoring US mosques and jailing anyone who visits websites favoring a terror group.
The fear of Islam was not limited to France or the United States, but expanded and reached other countries, including Arab states, where many rushed to social media platforms to express solidarity with Nice through the hashtag #Jesuisnice.
On the other hand, the attack in Nice did get a number of fans, who said that these incidents are taking place due to France’s intervention in the war in Syria and killing of civilians. They also triggered the hashtag #jesuiscamion (translates into I am the truck).
