A special army unit has attacked Islamic State posts in the vicinity of the northeastern border town of Arsal and clashed with its members, sources told LBCI Thursday.
The army managed to arrest Lebanese IS leaders Tareq Fliti and Sameh Breidi, who got injured during the clash, as well as two other Syrians.
Sources added that the detainees are wanted for their involvement in car bomb attacks in Lebanon in 2013 and 2014, the assassination of Lebanese army Major Pierre Bechaalani and Sergeant Khaled Zahraman in Arsal in February 2013, as well as fighting the army in the restive border town.
