UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon tours Tripoli

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Derek Plumbly, toured Tripoli on Tuesday and checked on Nahr al-Bared camp and on the ongoing construction works therein.

Plumbly voiced his concern over the recent unrest in the region of Abi Samra in Tripoli; he praised the role played by local politicians and security forces in restoring calm immediately. “A full investigation into the incident must be launched”, he stressed.

Plumbly met with several political leaders including the Mufti of Tripoli and the south Sheikh Malek Chaar. Accompanied by a delegation of UNRWA employees, Plumbly visited Nahr al-Bared camp on Tuesday morning to check on the general situation and the ongoing construction works. .
