Iran says Lebanon ceasefire is integral to any broader war-ending deal

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an essential component of any ceasefire agreement or final settlement aimed at ending the war.

Responding to a question about Iran’s position on developments in Lebanon and ongoing Israeli actions, Baghaei said the region is facing what he described as a continued “cycle of war-making” by Israel, arguing that it has waged an ongoing conflict in the region for decades with U.S. backing.

He said recent developments represent a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement signed on April 8, adding that Iran has consistently maintained that any ceasefire or final agreement must include Lebanon as an integral part of the broader settlement aimed at ending the conflict.
