Defense Minister Samir Moqbel issued on Monday a decision to freeze state-issued gun permits in the country.
In a statement released by the ministry, Moqbel said the halt of gun permits on the Lebanese territories would take place from September 25 to October 20.
The minister pointed out that the permits would only be issued to the bodyguards of diplomats, former or current ministers and MPs, party heads and spiritual leaders.
He concluded by saying that violators would be punished and prosecuted and the army has been ordered to refer them to the Military Court.
