Geagea calls for holding parliamentary elections on time
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea called for carrying out the parliamentary elections on time in order to respect constitutional deadlines. Geagea made these remarks as a response to some of the other party's attempts aimed at misleading the public opinion toward believing that the 2013 elections were unnecessary.

"The elections law is in compliance with the Taif agreement without which Lebanon could never find salvation, as it is based on fundamental factors including Muslim-Christian parity," Geagea explained during a dinner banquet held in honor of mayors of Aley casa in presence of a number of MPs.

As for the right of expatriates to participate in elections, Geagea said the 2009 elections law stipulated expatriates' right to vote, therefore, Lebanese consulates and embassies abroad were now responsible for setting the necessary logistic procedures to allow the application of this law.

Turning to regional affairs, the LF leader said the Syrian crisis entered the internationalization process the moment the Security Council decided the initial deployment of up to 300 unarmed military observers to Syria.

"This is the beginning of the Syrian regime's end. It is a first step towards reaching a free, independent and sovereign Syrian state ruled by a popular majority," Geagea estimated.
