26 sentenced to death in Estonian abduction case
Military Investigating Judge Fadi Sawwan issued on Thursday an indictment on the abduction of seven Estonians last year. The indictment ordered the death sentence for the 26 accused, each according to the role they played in the abduction.

The indictment included the names of 29 defendants, amongst which nine are held in custody while 19 are still at large and were convicted in absentia. Syrian citizen Mohammad Ahmad Ahmad also known as Mohammad Zraifeh, one of the accused, has been captured by Syrian authorities.

Judge Sawwan accused the 29 defendants of establishing a gang with the purpose of committing felonies, robberies, undermining the state’s power and kidnapping.

The judge also established a link between the gang and Fateh al-Islam, adding that the two were collaborating to prepare suicide belts and explosive devices and use illegal machine guns to kill officer Rashed Sabra. Sawwan issued arrest warrants against all accused and submit them to the permanent military court.
