Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb noted Monday that efforts would be unified in a bid to find a way out of the impasse.
“All those who are paralyzing the constitutional institutions shall bear the responsibility,” Harb said following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai in Bkerke.
Harb also stressed that “the president should not be ‘handcuffed’ before his election.”
“The head of state must have a strong personality,” the minister asserted.
Rai had earlier received a delegation from the Progressive Socialist Party, in the presence of MPs Henri Helou and Elie Aoun.
Yesterday, Patriarch Rai criticized Lebanon's politicians for their attempts to broker an all-inclusive deal to end the country’s crises, saying such an agreement would strip the president of his constitutional jurisdiction.
“How can any presidential candidate who has dignity accept a prior package deal?” Rai asked.
