The public drivers ended on Thursday a sit-in they staged outside the Interior Ministry in the region of Hamra, where they blocked the road amid tight security measures.
The protesters had organized a rally earlier from Dora Bridge towards Beirut, all the way to the Interior Ministry building in Hamra Street to protest the mechanical inspection tender.
In this context, Head of public drivers union Bassam Tleis declared that no practical result has been reached so far, reiterating that the mechanical inspection must be managed by the state.
Tleis stressed that all mechanical inspection centers across the Lebanese regions will close on Monday October 17 until further notice.
