REPORT: Hariri tours former PMs, says Cabinet formation to be quick
President Michel Aoun summoned on Thursday Future Movement leader MP Saad Hariri to ask him to form a new government.
 
Following the meeting with Aoun, Prime Minister-designate Hariri voiced hopes for ​a quick formation of a government of "national accord".

The PM-designated also ​noted that he is “open to all blocs, those ​that named him and those that didn’t.”
 
Hariri then toured former prime ministers for consultations whereby he started his tour with former PM Salim al-Hoss.

Then, he headed to meet with former PM Najib Mikati who asserted that “Hariri’s mission is hard and is a not a walk in the park at all,” adding that discussions featured high over the necessity to “turn the page of the past and especially in the case of those who were arrested for their involvement in Tripoli’s latest clashes.”

For his part, Hariri said that several challenges await him, adding that he has confidence in President Aoun.

“I am optimistic about the new era, and the formation of a new government will be quick, if God willing,” he added.

Hariri also paid a visit to MP Fouad Siniora, who is also a former PM, and stressed the necessity to let all political sides participate in the next government.

For his part, Siniora noted that Hariri has "the needed will and determination to address all challenges."
 
“We stand beside him (Hariri) and beside President Aoun,” he added.
 
Hariri ended his tour with outgoing Prime Minister Tammam Salam, praising “Salam’s patience and wisdom which saved the country during the toughest times.”

For his part, Salam wished Hariri a good luck, adding that Hariri’s deal over the presidency saved the country.

 
Earlier inthe day, the binding consultations with parliamentary blocs ended, witnessing an overwhelming support for Hariri.
 
Hariri garnered the support of 112 MPs out of the 126-member legislature during the two-day talks.
