Khouri: Lebanon should take action to curb smuggling

Head of the Syrian-Lebanese Supreme Council Nasri Khouri, discussed with Foreign minister Adnan Mansour local and regional developments during a brief stop-over at Villa Boustros today. Khouri emerged to report to waiting newsmen the Syrian government's relative satisfaction with Mikati-led government's all-out "neutral" attitude.

He concluded that his recent encounter with government officials in Damascus demonstrated no discontent on part of the Syrians with Mikati's policy of dissociation what-so-ever. Khouri on the other hand, reiterated need for bolstering Syrian-Lebanese bilateral relations in all fields of interest including the safeguarding and securing of the Damascus regime by denying all access to anti-regime rebels.

He argued that the regime must be preserved at all costs to the benefit of Lebanese security and stability as well. Khouri commended Lebanese military and the president for what he termed as their resilience in fighting cross-border gun-running.
