Mass held to commemorate 11th anniversary of Tueni's death
A mass to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the assassination of MP Gebran Tueni was held on Sunday, a number of political figures and religious men participated in the mass.
Metropolitan Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church for the Archdiocese of Beirut Elias Aoude called during his sermon on the Lebanese leaders to support President Michel Aoun, urging them to express loyalty to the Lebanese state, army and Constitution only.
He also urged the leaders to put the country’s interests on top of their priorities.
“Lebanon is in dire need of a working government in order to deal with the people’s vital issues,” he added.
Speaking about late MP Tueni, Aoude noted that the assassinated lawmaker was dreaming about a Free and Democratic Lebanon,” adding that the country is witnessing today a “moral degeneration.”

Tueni, the former editor and publisher of an Nahar daily, was assassinated in a car bomb in the region of Mkalles on December 12, 2005.
