Charbel, committee for detainees agree to a second interrogation of Mawlawi

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel arrived on Wednesday in An-Nour Square after it was announced that roads were reopened amid continuing protests.

Charbel announced that the ministry of interior, with all its security apparatuses, is at the disposal of all the Lebanese without any discrimination.

It was earlier reported that Charbel, the Islamic committees and the committee for Islamist detainees agreed to appoint lawyers in the case of Shadi Mawlawi and to carry out a second interrogation on Thursday under the supervision of Judge Sakr Sakr. The interrogation will be also attended by Mawlawi’s defense attorneys.

Charbel earlier said, following the Secondary Security Council meeting that took place at the Tripoli Serail, that the Mawlawi case is in the hands of the competent judicial authority and "we are ready to cooperate to reveal the truth", adding that in case there was no proof against al-Mawlawi, he would have been released.

Charbel confirmed that Al-Qaeda organization does not exist in Lebanon, adding that there are people supporting this organization.
