Terror prevails among Tripoli residents, grenade targets delegation comprising MP Kabbara

Terror prevails among the residents in Tripoli after a hand grenade exploded near al-Nasseri Mosque on Syria Street in Bab al-Tebbaneh during the tour of MP Mohammed Kabbara and other figures from the city. No injuries were reported.

Three people were injured when an Energa shell fell in Jabal Mohsen.

The National News Agency noted that the process of setting barricades is renewed in the streets of Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen. Meanwhile, the army continues intensifying its patrols and checkpoints across in the region.

Earlier, an uneasy calm overshadowed Tripoli, particularly between Bab el-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, as no incidents have been reported since Thursday night, except for the dropping of a single bomb.      

The army had earlier detonated unexploded bombs in Syria Street after notifying the residents to avert tension.

Roads leading to Abd al-Hamid Karami Square have been blocked to hold Friday prayers.    

Military Judge Sakr Sakr turned down on Friday a request to release Shadi Mawlawi, awaiting the completion of relevant investigations.

The judge announced that another session over the case will be held on Tuesday.

Schools and commercial stores closed their doors, fearing any flare-ups in the town.
