Well-informed
security sources revealed details linked to the arrest of a network that was smuggling
weapons out of Ain al-Helweh camp, adding that as a result of follow-ups and
close monitoring based on the data and information provided by the LAF
intelligence, the sabotaging network was arrested near the entrance to Ain
al-Helweh camp.
The
sources told
As-Safir daily that, while the Palestinian detainee, owner of a
vegetable truck, was smuggling weapons out of the camp on Thursday night, a unit
affiliated with the Directorate of Intelligence arrested him along with another
Lebanese. However, three accomplices, including two Lebanese, managed to flee
away.
The
sources also disclosed the list of weapons that were being smuggled out of the camp.
Al-Joumhouria
daily learnt that a number of figures included in the list of assassination targets
will leave Lebanon amid this delicate phase.
In
this context, it was revealed that people very close to Head of the National
Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt advised the latter to leave Lebanon amid this
delicate phase or to at least take the necessary precautionary measures given
that Jumblatt does not abide by security advice and instructions as he once told
his close friends “on God we rely.”
Meanwhile, according
to certain information, following the attempted assassination of Lebanese
Forces Leader Samir Geagea, the party’s security body blocked security holes
and gaps overlooking Maarab by mounting reinforced concrete barriers.
Sheikh Dai
al-Islam al-Shahal, founder of the Salafist Movement in Lebanon, underlined intentions
to spread the Syrian conflicts onto Lebanon to serve the interests of the
Syrian regime.
In
a statement to
al-Joumhouria daily, Sheikh al-Shahal accused the allies of the Syrian
regime in Lebanon of seeking to make Tripoli and the Sunnis bow down before “the
greater regional project”
Al-Sahahal
added that his party seeking to acquire the least number of arms aims at
averting the repetition of the May 7 events in Tripoli which embraces the Syrian
people, as he said.
Al-Akhbar
daily quoted sources close to the Saudi embassy as saying that a member of a
commission in Riyadh, tasked with overseeing the Lebanese file, is not friendly
with former PM Saad Hariri and revealed that he does not have faith in his abilities
to run the affairs of Lebanon and the sect.
"
Al-Akhbar daily reported that a recent guest of
President Michel Sleiman quoted the latter as commenting on the pressure
exerted on him by another party over the expenditure issue. “I am disgusted, I
don’t care and I am ready to go home but I am not signing anything under
pressure,” Sleiman was quoted as saying.
The sources added that Sleiman is reassured that
the situation in Tripoli will not get any worse, especially that political
forces “lifted the cover off” armed men.
