Army Commander says security is “under control”

Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun said on Saturday that the security situation in the country is under the army's full control.

Aoun’s comments were made during a visit to the Rangers Regiment mobilized in the Roumieh prison, whereby he warned that "any attempt to shake the country’s security would be faced with force and firmly."

He also noted that the "qualitative operation" carried out by the army in the border town of Arsal earlier in the day "proves once again that terrorists will have no safe haven in any Lebanese region and that the army is capable of detecting any terrorist activity and will swiftly address it."
