President Aoun says Lebanon’s history with migration is extremely painful

President Michel Aoun said that Lebanon’s history with immigration is long and painful, noting that immigration is an emotional tax paid by the families since the time when Lebanon turned into a country exporting its citizens rather than its products.

Addressed the Lebanese nationals across the world, Aoun called on the expatriates to return to Lebanon and contribute to its reconstruction and prosperity.

During his speech at the Lebanese Diaspora Energy Conference at BIEL, Aoun stressed that the difficult political, social and economic situations have forced the citizens to leave, calling on the Lebanese nationals living abroad to maintain their identity.

At the end of the ceremony, President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri signed the first decree pertaining to restoring Lebanese nationality.
