Head of the Finance and Budget Committee MP Ibrahim Kanaan declared approving the second chapter of the budget, noting that they requested the ministries to present detailed reports on their programs and objectives.
Kanaan pointed out that the electricity plan was approved by the cabinet, adding that he tasked Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil with implementing the necessary procedures.
Following the committee’s meeting held to discuss the electricity plan, Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil said that power supply cannot be guaranteed during the summer season without available plants that do not require time to build.
The minister explained that the electricity rescue plan will help the Lebanese economy and the citizens save up to 45 to 54% of the cost.
