Abboud to LBCI: the current events aim at exerting pressure on cabinet
Minister of Tourism Fadi Abboud told “Nharkom Saiid” TV show on Tuesday that the security incidents taking place aim at exerting pressure on the cabinet and involving the army, but he confirmed that these behaviors increase the government’s solidarity, noting that questioning the military institution, which is “one of the cleanest institutions”, is a big problem.

Abboud pointed that those who want the cabinet to resign are the ones who fired in Beirut streets. “We had hoped to avoid the resignation of Kahwaji and we ask everyone to calm down”, he added.

Abboud said that the stance taken by Najib Mikati’s cabinet to distance itself from the military issue has been rejected by some Arab countries.

Regarding the warnings sent by Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and Kuwait to their nationals to leave Lebanon, Abboud noted that these requests lie in security grounds. He added that there has been cancelling in hotel reservations but not in significant rates, stressing that there is still a chance to save the season of tourism in case the security situation settles down.
