Mufti Qabbani: Military institution should not be targeted

Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani stressed on Thursday that it is not permissible to target the military institution, whatever the reasons.

Ahead of his departure to Moscow, Qabbani added that the Army Command is currently investigating the Kweikhat incident, adding that the judiciary will clarify the incident’s circumstances and hold the perpetrators responsible.

The Mufti confirmed “no national, Sunnite, Shiite, Christian or Islamic strife; people have to act rationally, and not to burn their country, sons and the future of next generations.”

Qabbani added that the recent letter sent by the Saudi king stems from his keenness on the interest of Lebanon, the Lebanese and the entire Arab region.

Commenting on the abduction of 12 Lebanese in Aleppo and on whether he is mediating to release them, Qabbani answered: “the kidnappers, wherever they are, should release those innocent people.”
