In a crate that can barely fit a puppy, three small tigers were squeezed together for almost four months and were sent from Ukraine to Beirut International Airport.
They were stuck at the airport for seven days and remained inside the case in a terrible situation, without food or water.
With the help and efforts deployed by Animals Lebanon to rescue these tigers smuggled into Lebanon by a Syrian national to sell them to three wealthy Lebanese citizens.
After seven days of waiting the association obtained a judicial decision allowing it to get these tigers out of their crate and the airport to their center in Aley.
The association’s workers treated and took care of the animals, to wait for a final solution for the issue.
Prime Minister Saad Hariri brought the issue to the cabinet’s table of discussion and exerted pressure to reach an agreement over shipping these rare animals out of Lebanon and into a more suitable environment.
The trafficking of wild life is a crime penalized by international laws, but will the person responsible for this case be held accountable?
