Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea said that “after seven years of bearing the heavy burden of the Syrian displacement that wore off the infrastructure and aggravated the security risks, it has become necessary to find a radical solution for the dilemma,” stressing the need for the refugees to return to safe areas in Syria, each one of which is a territory larger than Lebanon’s.
During a meeting with a delegation from the unions department of the party, Geagea said that the LF has been drafting a proposal to be presented to the cabinet, which in turn will submit it to the United Nations Secretary General, informing him that “the time has come to implement a mechanism for the safe return of the refugees to areas free of military battles.”
