The cabinet passed the majority of the 60 items on the agenda, including the item pertaining to generating power from the wind, while the item of the pay scale was not discussed.
The item pertaining to the mechanism of appointments was also postponed for further discussion, but Minister Pierre Bou Assi stressed, while reading the statement following the session, that the ministers are keen on maintaining the work of the state’s institutions and on finalizing the appointments’ mechanism as swiftly as possible.
During the session, Prime Minister Saad Hariri tackled the issue of cooperation between the ministries, saying that “the duties are to focus on getting things done at all ministries and completing transactions.”
“Deficit must be reduced through reducing the expenses and increasing revenues in order to positively reflect on the economic situation,” he added.
A long political discussion was held at the beginning of the meeting regarding the support for the Lebanese army and the issue of the Syrian refugees.
