REPORT: Is agreement possible over request to deploy UNIFIL along northeastern border?

Ministerial sources confirm that there has been no change in the mission of the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon, nor has the prime minister received any request in this regard during his visit to Washington.

The sources said that these rumors come as disturbance at the eve of the renewal for the UNIFIL’s mission.

According to former ambassadors, in order to deploy UNIFIL forces along the northeastern borders, this will require either a new resolution issued by the United Nations Security Council, or an amendment to the existent 1701 resolution. If the cabinet has disassociated itself from conflicting issues, how is it supposed to reach an agreement over such an issue?
