REPORT: Retired servicemen hold fresh sit-in

Retired servicemen blocked on Monday several main roads in Beirut in a bid to put pressure on President Michel Aoun not to sign the proposed pay scale file.

Speaking on behalf of the National Commission of the Armed Forces Veterans, Sami al-Rammah called on Aoun “not to sign the wage scale file but to include his remarks and to return it back to the Parliament.”

The protestors believe that the pay scale, as approved, does no give them justice.

President Aoun has called for a dialogue meeting to discuss the controversial pay scale bill and the new series of taxes to fund said scale.

The meeting kicked off shortly after the protests.
