REPORT: Economic dialogue meeting to discuss pay scale held in Baabda

The economic dialogue meeting called forth by President Michel Aoun was held on Monday at the Baabda Presidential Palace to discuss the wage scale bill and new taxes.

The meeting was kicked off in presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the concerned ministers, Lebanon's Central Bank Governor Riyad Salame, and representatives of the economic bodies and committees and teachers.

Prior to the meeting, talks were held between President Aoun and PM Hariri.

Following the meeting, Information Minister Melhem Riachi declared that President Aoun willtake the appropriate decision on the wage scale based on discussions and viewpoints expressed by all concerned sides in this regard.

"The file is in the hands of the President and he will decide on the matter," Minister Riachi said.

He also said that Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil gave his own point of view on the wage scale revenues, adding that there was discrepancy over certain points.
