Yammine to LBCI: Lebanese alignment confuses kidnappers

Member of El Marada Movement Political Bureau, Vera Yammine, said on Monday that there is a “missing stitch” along the Syrian-Turkish border with regard to the case of the Lebanese hostages, adding that “[the missing stitch] could be within the Turkish territory.”   

“Turkey is currently facing a real deadlock,” Yammine confirmed to Nharkom Said TV show.    

Yammine added that the kidnapping issue has proven that Hezbollah is keen on averting any sedition, adding that Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was the first to contain the situation on the ground by calling for exercising self-restraint and maintaining calm.   

Yammine pointed out that the Tripoli events caused embarrassment for the Future Movement and thus, it sought to compensate for the embarrassment elsewhere.   

Separately, Yammine said that the Lebanese people’s alignment, which was the main instigator behind the formation of the dialogue table, scheduled to take place on the second week of June, has set the kidnappers at a state of apprehension, pointing out that “the unity of the Lebanese is targeted.”

Commenting on the recent events that shook Tripoli and Akkar, Yammine said that the events targeted the internal Lebanese scene but “have highlighted the current cabinet’s ability to contain tensions on the ground.” 

Yammine confirmed that the country has overcome a critical phase.

As for the call for dialogue, Yammine said that El Marada Movement, which is a significant part of the Change and Reform bloc, endorses dialogue, pointing out high coordination between Suleiman Frangieh and MP Michel Aoun on different internal issues.
