Jumblatt fears Syrian revolution becoming sectarian
MP Walid Jumblatt addressed the Syrian people, in general, and the citizens of Mount Arab (Jabal Al-Arab), in particular, to foil, amid the turmoil in Syria, the plots of any sectarian strife concerted by the Syrian regime aimed at fanning the flames of conflict among the "citizens of the one nation or region." J

umblatt's fresh stance came through his weekly editorial in the PSP newspaper, Al-Anbaa. Jumblatt praised the history of Syria and its fighters who defeated colonial powers with courage.

Accordingly, Jumblatt called upon the Syrian people to foil any attempt to give the current Syrian revolution a confessional connotation, and thus preserve the revolution's national aspect. Separately, Jumblatt spoke highly of the journalist Nassir Al-Asaad who passed away on Sunday at the age of 61, saying "Lebanon lost one of the most important pillars and national symbols whose life was imbued with monumental struggles."
