REPORT: President Aoun announces victory over terrorism

President Michel Aoun declared on Wednesday that Lebanon had overcome terrorism during a news conference at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

“Today we announce our victory over terrorism,” Aoun said.

"When I met the Army Chief in Yarzeh, I told the military that we expect them to win over terrorism and, today, we declare our victory over terrorism," he added.

He also noted that the main goal of the army’s offensive was to reveal the fate of the abducted soldiers and this goal has been achieved.

“However, we wish we were celebrating their liberation alive," he added.
