The Lebanese Armed Forces Command released a statement on Saturday to respond to reports circulated by media outlets citing Israeli media, about a Lebanese army officer operating in south Lebanon, particularly on the frontiers of Lebanon with the occupied Palestine. The army command affirmed its sovereign decision regarding the issues related to the Military Institution, stressing that it is up to the command only and according to the missions of its military units to determine the function and the work domain of all its army officers and elements.
The statement said: “We work in cooperation and coordination with the UNIFIL in south Lebanon to implement the articles of the resolution 1701 which is constantly violated by the Israeli enemy. The command along with the UNIFEL will also tackle the fabricated news and will respond to it within the necessary legal frameworks.”
