The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces declared that the Cybercrime and Intellectual Property Protection Office received a large number of complaints by citizens receiving emails from the address: getcon@gardener.com saying that an amount of 57$ has been withdrawn from their personal Apple ID account, and upon opening the email, the victims found that they can cancel the process by clicking on a “cancel” button, but it turns out that by clicking on the button, a fake page appears.
Accordingly, the concerned office carried out a technical inspection on the server used for the crime and managed to control the files of the pirate and that were used to spread the virus and open stolen files. The office found that 800 accounts were hacked and Apple IDs and their passwords were used to take hold of personal files and credit cards information.
Therefore, since this activity could threaten the victims’ personal files and funds, they will be contacted from the office’s address: cybercrime@isf.gov.lb, requesting them to change their Apple ID and passwords and to contact their bank in order to cancel their credit cards, subject of the said crime.
