REPORT: Aoun meets delegation from leading economic bodies

President Michel Aoun said on Thursday that the state is preparing an economic plan that gives a significant role for the production sector.

Aoun’s comments were made during a meeting at the Presidential Palace with a delegation from Lebanon’s leading economic bodies.

“Our tourism season was very successful, we had increased revenues due to our customs duties and had positive developments in our balance of payments,” he said.

For his part, the head of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Mohamed Choucair said that “the meeting with President Aoun was better than excellent.”

“We left him with a lot to consider about the double taxation,” he added.
