REPORT: Gap between Free Patriotic Movement and Lebanese Forces widens

From Australia, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea called on President Aoun to restore the state’s sovereign decision, which was violated by the cabinet.

Geagea noted that some are using the issue of the refugees to bring back the Syrian influence into Lebanon and force a dialogue with Assad.

Sources from the Free Patriotic Movement considered these remarks as an insult to the components of the cabinet, including the LF ministers.

“Those who feel that the government’s decision is no longer sovereign, why don’t they resign from the cabinet?” the sources asked.

Concerning Geagea’s comments on bringing back the Syrian influence, the FPM sources stressed that the party is keen on preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty, freedom and independence.
