Tripoli life returns to normal as stores remain closed

Residents in Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli went on strike on Monday in protest at clashes between pro- and anti-Syrian groups which have erupted in the past three days.

Resident and merchants in Tripoli closed their shops in the city as a mark of protest against the killings and damage in the city.

The ISF and LAF carried out patrols in the city streets and installed checkpoints.

In a phone call with LBCI, Tripoli’s Mayor, Nader Ghazal, stressed that the security situation is unbearable, noting that civil society groups will hold on Thursday a sit in Abdel Naser Square.

Meanwhile, the NNA reported that unknown people set fire to a library in al-Kobbe, facing the Lebanese University, on Sunday night.
