Kataeb party chief, MP Samy Gemayel hoped Monday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri will return soon to Lebanon to interpret his convictions from the Lebanese territories, whether in terms of constitutions or political measures.
“We want him to make these decisions from Lebanon and not from any other place,” he stated.
Commenting on Hariri’s Sunday interview, Gemayel pointed to Hariri’s mentioning confidential information, calling on him to reveal this information “because it is clearly related to the future of the Lebanese people.”
The deputy also hoped that Hariri’s statement about a settlement will be a constructive solution, expressing his party’s readiness to be positive. “The time has come to overcome disputes and veer Lebanon toward the right path.”
Speaking during a press conference, Gemayel said that “the old settlement placed the country at the disposal of others, this is why we hit this ordeal,” noting that Lebanon needs a new constructive settlement for the current political crisis.
Concerning Hezbollah’s weapons, Gemayel pointed out that they are not saying that Hezbollah must give up its weapons tomorrow, but they are calling for placing a roadmap that leads to handing over the arms so that the state can restore its sovereignty.
“The Lebanese affairs are a priority over the regional affairs,” he said.
