REPORT: Nasrallah says Arab League statement not new but unfortunate
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Monday a televised speech whereby he tackled the latest local and regional developments.
During his speech, Nasrallah said that Hezbollah has sent a number of military advisers to Iraq, stressing that the appropriate steps about their presence in Baghdad will be taken when Iraq announces victory.
“Iraq’s declaration of final Islamic State’s defeat is not far,” he added.
On another note, Nasrallah said that the US had provided a full aerial cover for IS in Syria’s Boukamal, adding that it also supported the group financially.
“Iran stood beside Iraq, Lebanon and Syria in the face of IS,” he noted.
This as Hezbollah chief said that the armed party did not send any weapons to Yemen, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq or any Arab country.
“We only sent weapons to occupied Palestine, while in Syria we're fighting with our arms,” he stressed.
As for Lebanon, Nasrallah said that the country is still facing Israeli threats, adding that Hezbollah weapons were “essential in achieving security and stability.”
On another note, Nasrallah said Arab League’s statement accusing Hezbollah of terrorism "not new" and expected but unfortunate.
He concluded by saying that the party is waiting for PM Saad Hariri's return to Lebanon, adding that they" are open to any dialogue."
On Sunday, the Arab League met to discuss what it called Iranian interference in Arab countries, and accused Hezbollah of terrorism.
Saudi Arabia, a regional foe of Iran, opposes Hezbollah's military role in Syria and has accused it of helping the Houthis in Yemen and armed men in Bahrain.
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said on Monday after meeting President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Beeri that nobody was accusing Lebanon's cabinet of terrorism or wanted to harm Lebanon.
