MP Abou Faour: To take appropriate measures after HRW report

Democratic Gathering bloc MP Wael Abou Faour said on Saturday that the report published by the Human Rights Watch over Lebanon’s burning of waste proves what the Minister of Health had long warned against it.

He also called on the concerned ministries to take the appropriate procedures to reduce “the catastrophic risks that threaten the lives of the citizens."

The Human Rights Watch published on Friday a 67-page report under the title: ‘As If You’re Inhaling Your Death’: The Health Risks of Burning Waste in Lebanon,” which finds that Lebanese authorities’ lack of effective actions to address extensive open burning of waste and a lack of suitable monitoring or information about the health effects violate Lebanon’s obligations under international law.
