US Embassy in Beirut issues security message for US citizens
The US Embassy in Beirut issued on Friday a security message in which it advised its citizens to take cautions of their personal security following the U.S. announcement of a new policy with regard to the status of Jerusalem.
The message read as follows:
The U.S. Embassy Beirut is aware that several groups have announced public protests following the U.S. announcement of a new policy with regard to the status of Jerusalem.

Demonstrations have the potential to become violent.  U.S. Embassy Beirut reminds U.S. citizens of the need for caution and awareness of personal security.  We urge U.S. citizens to avoid all protests.
Review your personal security plans; remain aware of your surroundings, including local events; and monitor local news for updates.  Maintain a high-level of vigilance, take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security and follow instructions of local authorities.  Avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
Because of reports of possible protests on Sunday, December 10, the Embassy has cancelled all non-essential movements for that day.
