President Michel Aoun stressed that the parliamentary elections will be conducted on time, based on a new electoral law that reflects the citizen's true vision, noting that the army and security forces are keen to strengthen stability in the country and to pursue the remnants of terrorist organizations that were defeated in the border regions.
Aoun pointed out that the three international conferences to be held in the next few weeks aim at helping Lebanon in various fields, adding that this is yet another proof of the importance of the role that Lebanon plays in its environment and the world.
He also hoped that these conferences would result in practical decisions and procedures that could contribute to empowering Lebanon, strengthening its army and security forces, boosting its economy and helping it faced the repercussions of Syrians' displacement to its territory.
President Aoun made these remarks during his meeting at the Baabda Palace, in the presence of French Ambassador Bruno Foucher, a delegation from the French Senate headed by Senator and Chairman of the Group of Relations with Christians and Minorities in the Middle East, Bruno Retailleau, who is visiting Lebanon as part of a tour of several Arab countries.
Retailleau praised the "positions made by President Aoun since the start of his term,” noting that "France and the international community appreciate the care provided for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.”
